Container Gardening Expert Melissa King shows you how to create a contemporary cottage garden combo, where teal pots and purple flowers steal the show.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 x Northcote Pottery Teal Maxim Drum set of three
2 x Lavender ‘Javelin Forte’
1 x Limonium ‘Perezii Blue’
1 x Erysimum ‘Bowles’s Mauve’
2 x Carex ‘Everest’

In the largest pot, make a feature of Lavender ‘Javelin Forte’ and Limonium ‘Perezii Blue’ at the back of the container. ‘Javelin Forte’ is a beautiful compact form of lavender that displays rich purple-winged flowers from spring all the way through to autumn. It’s the perfect complement to sun loving Limonium ‘Perezii Blue’, which is both tough and water wise and boasts beautiful long-lasting blooms. Then tuck the stunning Erysimum ‘Bowles’s Mauve’ into the side of the pot. Wallflowers like these bring an instant cottage garden look to any potted display and flower prolifically through the warmer months. Complete the look with the lovely Carex ‘Everest’, which boasts decorative silvery-white and dark green striped foliage which looks good all year round. Fill the two smaller pots with Lavender ‘Javelin Forte’ and Carex ‘Everest’ to tie the whole look together.

TIP: Cluster a family of pots together and fill them with plants in complementary shades to get a cohesive, beautifully designed look.
